Self Defense The cornerstone of our curriculum is our “Black Belt Training System” which teaches comprehensive self defense techniques broken down into easy to understand steps. You will be able to start protecting yourself from your very first class (although, not in the confrontational way that you might imagine!) Unlike many schools that focus on pure physical methods, our program incorporates:
• Self defense strategy how to avoid dangerous people and situations. • Conflict resolution techniques skills that enable individuals to interact peacefully and harmoniously with others. • Non-harmful self defense methods - including how to control an opponent with minimal force, or personal risk. • Techniques utilizing leverage and redirection - enabling a smaller individual to deal with a stronger, larger opponent.
While our program will teach the necessary “protection skills,” the emphasis of our curriculum is on developing the skills that empower students to be top performers in life.
Beyond the Physical... Lessons in Mindfullness Many people do not realize that self-defense is only the smallest fraction of what martial arts have to offer. Beyond the physical skills, martial arts instill qualities like goal setting, self-control, self-discipline, and a level of self-confidence that makes a person virtually unstoppable! At the same time, students acquire an internal sense of calmness, peace and balance which many regard as crucial for success in our hectic world.
